Okay, so you’re sizing me up (you have to be if you’re looking at my about us page). And you clicked on “About Us” and the first thing you see is a baby. Now you’re thinking, “what in the world does this have to do with anything?”
The answer: EVERYTHING!
That’s my daughter. She’s a little bit bigger now. She turned one on 04/03/2019.
She was my “AHA” moment.
Who am I?
My name is Sean Senseman. I am the founder of Medicare About You, an insurance brokerage specializing in educating Baby Boomers on the rights and benefits they’re entitled to with Medicare. My career began in 2006 when I started working at a Fortune 500 insurance company. I fell in love with the idea of helping people, while shedding light on the complex topic of insurance.
Medicare remains one of the most complicated topics that you will have to tackle in your lifetime. Sprinkle in the fact that there is a lot of misinformation and companies just looking to make a quick buck. I knew that I could bring a solution to this space and help the people I enjoy working with. People like you. People who are established, mature, whose values align with being brought up in the 50s, 60s, and 70s. What can I say? I’m an “old soul”.
Why did I go independent?
There was a piece missing working for a large call center based company. I knew that once the education was over and my client was on-boarded that I’d have to turn them over to the company’s customer service team. Yuck!
Unfortunately, in corporate environments and call centers, there can be wild variations in the level of service received. There’s always a gap in knowledge between someone brand new to the industry and someone who has worked in insurance for many years. When you dial that 1-800 number it’s like playing Russian roulette.
Not only that, but when you’re limited to one company, you can’t always have the consumer’s best interest in mind. As an Independent agent, I represent ALL of the top companies: Mutual of Omaha, Humana, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Transamerica. The list goes on…
Four years in I decided to QUIT! Except I couldn’t. I had three daughters already who depended on my income. I was S-C-A-R-E-D. Then, Anna was born. She made daughter number four. I decided that I would start a business that I loved while doing what I love: Spending time with her and helping people I enjoy working with.
So, I decided to start my own brokerage. I work one on one with each and every one of my clients. 6 AM? No problem. 11 PM? No Problem. You have a question? I answer it.
